Axl Rose accidentally injured a fan

Axl Rose accidentally injured a fan when he threw his microphone to the crowd at the end of the gig in Adelaide last weekend.

The microphone hit Rebecca Howe and caused quite severe injuries to her face and nose. You can read more about the incident here. It is interesting to analyze this from the broker’s perspective. Liability cover is included in the all-risk package for the event insurance.

The logical question, in this case, is: is there any liability of the organizer for this incident? Clearly not. I’m sure the organizer would never encourage such irresponsible behaviour. Therefore, this potential claim could never be paid through the liability section of the all-risk cover, unless the organizer added the personal accident cover for the audience to the policy, which can be done. PA policy would cover medical costs and remunerate the victim for any degree of permanent disability caused by the injury.

But it has to be said that if the organizer would be taken to court by the victim, then the liability policy would definitely cover legal expenses.
